While we use high quality waterproof fabric: the X-Pac RX30, we designed it with an internal waterproof liner as well.
The X-Pac fabric is waterproof on its own but water can sometime go thru the seams.
We could have stopped there but seal all the seams' liner to ensure the pannier is 100% waterproof.
The outside fabric will protect the liner from daily abuse. You might scratch or even tear a hole in the outside fabric, chances are the waterproof liner will remain intact.
As with all Arkel panniers, the Metropolitan is equipped with our patented Cam-Lock mounting system with solid aluminum hooks that won't bend or break.
Whatever road conditions, you can ride in confidence that your pannier will stay attached to the rack. That's a nice feeling, especially when carrying a laptop.
Not only the Metropolitan is waterproof and has a solid attachment system but it also provides a padded laptop compartment to carry laptops up to 17 inches.
