Saddle width should match your sit bone width, the two bones you actually sit on. A saddle that's too narrow puts pressure in the wrong places; too wide causes chafing. Most saddle brands size by sit bone width in millimetres, and Ergon and Selle Royal both offer guides. Yes, if you're a regular rider who values long-term comfort over out-of-the-box softness. Brooks leather saddles, the B17 and B67 in particular, mould to your body over time and last for years. The B67 is a popular choice for upright e-bike riding with its wider, sprung design. They do require a break-in period and occasional conditioning with Brooks Proofide, so they suit committed riders rather than occasional ones.

Start with height and tilt before swapping the saddle entirely. A saddle that's too low puts excess pressure on soft tissue; too high causes rocking and chafing. A slight nose-down tilt often helps for upright riders. If positioning doesn't fix it, the saddle width or padding profile is likely wrong for your anatomy.
