Test rides, not joy rides: 15 minutes of real track time on the bike you're sizing up. Slots are limited, lock yours in early.

Your test ride fee doubles as a deposit ⚡
Buy a bike after your ride and the full fee comes off the price. Ride first, decide when you actually know.

Pit - Youth $75. Mid to full size $100.
Includes full CityMX ride day access, bring your own bike and make a day of it.

How It Works

  1. Pick your bike - choose your model and session time on the booking page
  2. Book your slot - spots are limited and fill fast
  3. Arrive early - check in at the Melbourne Powered marquee 20 minutes before your session and sign the CityMX waiver
  4. Ride - a rundown of the controls and power modes, then 15 minutes of real track time on your bike.
This is a test ride with a decision at the end, not a track day pass.
  5. Stay and ride - full ride day access included, bring your own bike and make a day of it

FAQ

What happens if the weather turns bad?

Light rain (under 5mm forecast), we run.
Over 5mm forecast, we postpone to the backup date, Saturday 29 August, and your booking moves across automatically.

If it's a no go, we'll SMS and email everyone by 9pm the night before (and post it to @melbournepowered.emoto stories).

Can't make the new date? Full refund on request.

Why are spots so limited?

So you actually get proper ride time.

We run small groups to avoid rushed laps and bike bottlenecks. As a retailer, we bring a mix of the world’s best electric dirt bikes, not multiples of the same model, so riding and charging needs to be carefully managed.

Limiting spots keeps the experience smooth, fair, and genuinely useful.

Why is there a cost to test ride?

Test rides are $75 for junior and youth bikes and $100 for mid to full sized e-motos. Every booking includes your test ride session, a proper bike rundown with our team, and full CityMX ride day access.

And here's the good bit: if you buy a bike after your ride, the full fee becomes your deposit. Ride first, decide properly, and the ticket effectively costs you nothing.

The fee also keeps these days sustainable. Staffing, generators, logistics and bike prep all cost real money, and demo bikes ridden hard on track can't be sold as new afterwards. Charging properly means we can run these days properly.

Can I ride more than one bike?

Bookings are one bike per session. Keen for another? Ask the team on the day. If a slot's free after the ride and charge rotation, we'll get you out there, but it's availability-only, no guarantees.

Worth remembering what the day's for: working out whether the bike you've been eyeing is the bike you buy. If your ride didn't quite hit the mark, chat to the team, they'll figure out what you should throw a leg over instead.

Why can’t I test ride at the store?

Electric dirt bikes require private property and proper tracks.
We take the bikes to a motorcross track and let you ride them the way they’re meant to be ridden.

Do I need riding experience?

Not necessarily. Our test ride venues suit a wide range of riders, from beginners to experienced motocross riders.

These days are for riders genuinely considering an electric dirt bike. If electric riding is new to you, a test ride is the best way to understand how these bikes feel in a proper, controlled environment.

If you’re new, you’ll be able to ride at your own pace.
If you already ride, you’ll feel right at home.

This isn’t about joy laps, it’s about real seat time and making an informed decision.

How do I make sure I don’t miss out?

Book. That's it. Sessions are capped per time slot so every rider gets real track time, and the popular bikes go first.
Follow @melbournepowered.emoto for updates, but the only guaranteed spot is a booked one.

Do I need riding gear (MX helmet, MX gloves, MX boots)?

Yes, proper riding gear is required.

Ideally, bring your own MX helmet, MX gloves, MX boots and long pants.

We have a limited number of helmets and gloves available on the day.

CityMX also offers gear hire if needed.
