Surron Ultra Bee Review (2025): What You Need to Know

The Surron Ultra Bee has been (and continues to be) one of the most anticipated electric dirt bikes in recent years. With the 2025 model now selling in full swing, Surron’s latest edition appears to be living up to the hype once again.

With a 21kW peak motor, upgraded suspension, and new features like turbo mode, crawl mode, and traction control, this year’s model feels like a genuine step up. It’s lightweight, nimble, and bursting with the kind of performance that electric dirt bike riders go mad for.

But is it the right bike for you? In this Surron Ultra Bee review, we’ll break down what’s new, how it rides, and how it stacks up against the rest of the Surron lineup.

What Is the Surron Ultra Bee?

The Surron Ultra Bee first rolled onto the scene in late 2022, giving riders a new “in-between” option that sat neatly between the smaller Light Bee and the heavyweight Storm Bee. In just a few short years, it’s earned a rock-solid reputation for its blend of sharp handling, strong torque, and lightweight agility.

2025 Model Upgrades & Specs

The new and improved Ultra Bee is very much… new and improved. Let’s take a look at what’s changed.

Power and Motor Changes

The 2025 Ultra Bee has received one of its biggest upgrades in the power department. It now delivers a peak output of 21kW, with a massive 511Nm of torque, putting it in a whole new category compared to its early editions.

Surron has also introduced a new Turbo Mode that can be activated with a double-tap, unleashing the full 21kW instantly. But although the bike is marketed as having a full 21kW, riders will find that the regular sport mode (not using turbo) is generally around 18kW. Also new is the addition of Crawl Mode, featuring three adjustable low-speed settings, adding even more versatility for technical trails where precision beats outright speed.

Top Speed

It’s already well known that the Ultra Bee is no slouch, and this still rings true for the 2025 version. With a top speed of 95km/h, it easily keeps pace with smaller petrol dirt bikes and offers plenty of headroom for open trail riding. But what stands out most is how quickly it gets there: acceleration feels instant, especially when you double-tap into Turbo Mode.

New Controller and Traction System

One of the standout upgrades for 2025 is the new controller and traction system. The 2025 model feels smoother and more predictable, giving you sharper throttle response without the jerky surges that can make technical trails difficult.

Battery Performance and Range

The 2025 Ultra Bee gets a slightly bigger 74V, 60Ah lithium battery, giving it more stamina than earlier models. On paper, you’re looking at up to 140km of range when cruising at 40km/h, though aggressive riding on trails will naturally shorten that.

The battery is removable and swappable, which is a huge plus for longer days out — bring a spare and you’re set. Charging is quick too, with the fast charger topping it up in around four hours. Surron has even added under-seat charger storage!

On-Road and Off-Road Riding Experience

The Ultra Bee has always been designed primarily as an off-road machine. It features a lightweight aluminium frame, all sorts of sharp geometric lines and backs it all up with an outrageous amount of torque. This thing eats single-track trails for breakfast.

How fast is it?

~95 km/h. Very Fast

Is it road legal?

The short answer is no. The Surron Ultra Bee (2025), like earlier versions, is sold as an MX model only, which means it’s strictly designed for off-road use. It isn’t ADR-approved in Australia, so you can’t register or insure it for public roads.

That doesn’t take away from its appeal though — the Ultra Bee is built for off-road riding — where its nimble handling and explosive torque really shine. If you’re after a street-legal electric bike, check out the SurRon Ultra Bee T Electric Dirt Bike (ADR Approved)

How Does It Compare to Other Surron Models?

The Ultra Bee was designed to sit right in the middle of the Surron lineup, and it does that job perfectly. Its little and big brothers are the Light Bee and the Storm Bee, respectively.

Compared to the Light Bee, the Ultra Bee is a huge step up in both size and performance. The Light Bee is smaller, lighter, and easier for beginners, but it can feel underpowered once you gain confidence.

At the other end, the Storm Bee is Surron’s full motocross offering. It’s bigger, heavier, and packs more outright performance, but it comes with extra weight and intimidation factor.

Final Thoughts: Should You Buy It?

The 2025 Surron Ultra Bee is a serious step forward for the mid-sized e-moto category. With the improved 21kW peak output, improved suspension, and the range of technology additions, this is undeniably the most capable Ultra Bee so far.

It’s not entirely without it’s trade-offs though — the 19-inch front tyre isn’t perfect for rocky terrain (a 21-inch tyre upgrade will solve that easily though), and it’s playful handling may be perceived as twitchy by some.

But with that said, if you’re chasing petrol-bike-level thrills in a lighter, more agile electric package, the Ultra Bee is one of the best on the market and certainly the best in Surron’s lineup. As far as fun e-motos are concerned, the Surron Ultra Bee is hard to beat.
