An electric bike conversion kit is exactly that. It is a Kit consisting of everything required (except a battery) to take your normal bike and convert it into an electric bike. There are two types of kits which can be chosen, either Hub or Mid-drive motor kits. The difference is the mounting location of the motor and while each has its pro’s and con’s, we only sell Mid-Drive Kits as we see a greater benefit in this type of kit.
It is needless to say that the advantages are endless. You can quite effectively use an electric bike as an alternative to a car.
Range as a few determining factors. These include the total weight of the bike, the riding style and of course the battery size. Each Conversion Kit will list a recommended battery size for that particular motor and a realistic indication of the range is to be expected.
The bottom bracket or BB as it is commonly referred to is the width of the bracket at the bottom of the bike connecting both the pedals. Most bikes have a bottom bracket width which ranges between 68 and 73m mm. All our conversion kits are designed to work with a standard bottom bracket ranging from 68 mm to 73 mm.
